Intercessions for Ordinary 23  Year B

Prayers by Mr Edward Peck

Let us pray:

Thoughts
Think of a world without any flowers,
Think of a world without any trees,
Think of a sky without any sunshine,
Think of the air without any breeze,
Think of a world without any animals,
Think of a field without any grass,
Think of a stream without any fish,
Think of a dawn without any birds,
Think of a world without any people,
Think of a street with no-one living there,
Think of a town without any houses,
No-one to love and no-one to care.

We thank you, Father God, for your wonderful gifts to us in this awesome universe, for flowers and trees, for fruit and vegetables, for parents and children, friends and neighbours, young and old.
Lord in your mercy,
Hear our prayer

We pray, Father, for those who do not share in your bountiful gifts to us, those who are hungry or thirsty with no wells and no chance of getting them, for those who are poor, the sick or dying for no fault of their own.
Dear Father, help us, who have so much, to share our own wealth and good fortune with the deprived of this world, willingly to share all that we can with them, as we are all your children.
Lord in your mercy,
Hear our prayer

We pray now for those we know personally who are sick in body, mind and spirit, that they may hear your calming voice, may feel your strong arms supporting them. Give them the knowledge and conviction that you are always with them.
Lord in your mercy,
Hear our prayer

We remember before god those who have died, and light a candle to symbolise the light of Christ which eternally shines and brings hope. We remember …
We remember ….
You turn our darkness into light; in your light shall we see light.
May the souls of the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace and rise in glory.
We now join together in saying the prayer which Jesus taught his disciples, saying together:
