Intercessions for Ordinary 15 Year A Mr Warwick Holden

Prayers 13th July 2008
Let us pray, for all people, in all places, and in every kind of need.
We pray for your church, across the world, as well as here in Brickhill. We pray for our local church leaders and our national leaders – both Church and Secular. We pray for Charlie, Joan, and Sam. May God grant them strength, wisdom, and mercy in all their work with all. We pray at this time for the Church of England as it seeks guidance, understanding, and acceptance for the decisions made in General Synod.
Lord, in your mercy, Hear our prayer.

Lord, we pray for your world. Enable us to go out this coming week, and help all we meet. So little can make such a difference, a word of understanding or sympathy, a kind gesture, or even a touch or a smile can sow love and hope in someone’s heart.
Lord, in your mercy, Hear our prayer.

We pray for all countries around the world, for those who suffer through no fault of their own, from poverty, drought, warfare, and corruption. Bring them hope in their troubles, and sow a seed of compassion in our hearts for them.
Lord, in your mercy, Hear our prayer.

We pray for those on holiday, and those who cannot have a holiday because of work or cost. We remember those sportsmen and women heading to the Olympics and Para Olympics. I victory or defeat may they bring understanding and compassion to others.
Lord, in your mercy, Hear our prayer.

We pray for all who are without faith, hope or love. We pray for those who are sick, desperate or bereaved and for those who care for them and seek to bring them relief from their suffering. Give them your strength and courage to carry on and hope for the future. We pray especially for all those known to us who are in special need of our prayers, and we remember them now in a moment of silence …
Lord, in your mercy, Hear our prayer.

Jesus Christ is the light of the world, a light which no darkness can quench. We remember before God those who have died and light a candle to symbolise the light of Christ, which eternally shines and brings hope. We remember …

You turn our darkness into light: in your light shall we see light.
Merciful Father,
accept these prayers for the sake of your Son, our Saviour Jesus Christ. Amen.
Gathering our prayers and praises into one, let us say the Lord’s Prayer together.

Merciful Father,
accept these prayers for the sake of your Son, our Saviour Jesus Christ. Amen.

Gathering our prayers and praises into one, let us say the Lord’s Prayer together.
Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be your name,
Your kingdom come,
your will be done,
On earth as in heaven.
Give us today our daily bread.
Forgive us our sins
as we forgive those who sin against us.
Lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.
For the kingdom, the power and the glory are yours
Now and for ever. Amen.
