Prayers by Mary Stubbs

The bidding is - Lord in your mercy:, response: Hear our prayer

O Lord of light and vision, open our eyes and hearts to be aware of your presence, to know your love and see your purpose for us, that we become what you have called us to be, through Jesus Christ our Lord

Lord, come into our weakness with your power. Grant that your church may lead people to you. We pray for the outreach and mission of the faithful, for all who are quiet witnesses to what they trust and believe, for all of us in whatever our vocation and ministry, both women and men together, as lay people, as priests and ministers, bishops and chairmen, our leaders and workers, so news of your kingdom of love may spread and come into people’s hearts.
Lord in your mercy, Hear our prayer

God of love, guide our communities which are growing in fellowship and understanding. Direct all of us here in Brickhill, Putnoe and Oakley, who are seeking to build up community life. We pray for our local projects with children and young people, for all the societies and groups that bring people together with patience and tolerance and a willingness to be helpful..
Lord in your mercy, Hear our prayer

God of compassion, we pray for a world which struggles to live justly in peace, especially we think of Israel and Palestine, Iraq, and Afghanistan, their peoples and leaders.
We remember with sadness and hope those whose lives are cut short by disease, hunger, lack of clean water, civil war. We pray for those who meet persecution with courage and dignity. Bless all who try to bring relief and forgiveness and reconciliation.
Lord in your mercy, Hear our prayer

Lord, strengthen our bonds of love. We pray that children may be brought up with respect and freedom, that each may have proper spiritual nourishment.
We pray for all who are undervalued or taken for granted.
We pray for all who have suffered hardship or calamity this week, thinking of the Russian air disaster today and the families affected,
for those injured in accidents or suddenly taken ill, those known to us………………….
We pray for all with the gift of healing mind, body and spirit, and help us so to pray and act that they may all know your comfort and peace and strength.
Lord in your mercy, Hear our prayer

Lord, give life to our departed loved ones, give them joy and peace in your eternal kingdom.
Jesus Christ is the light of the world, a light which no darkness can quench. We commend to your everlasting love and care those who have died and light a candle to symbolise the light of Christ which eternally shines and brings hope. We remember especially
…………………………………………………………….

You turn our darkness into light and in your light shall we see light.
O God hear our prayers, help us to listen that prayers may change us too.
Merciful Father, accept these prayers for the sake of your Son our Saviour Jesus Christ. Amen
