Intercessions for Ordinary 30 Year B

By Mr Richard Ledger

Loving God, give us the eyes of faith,
that we may dare to see the world as it is;
that we may dare to see one another’s needs;
that we may dare to see with Christ’s eyes
and follow him along his way.

Silence

Son of David, Jesus, have pity on us.
Open our eyes and we will follow you.
We pray for all the kingdoms and nations of the earth’
for their leaders and their people,
their policies and their needs,
that under God’s overarching love
they may learn his ways and his will.
We pray that we may not be blind,
or shut our eyes to the suffering of the world:
to injustice and oppression;
to hunger and homelessness;
to violence and torture.

Son of David, Jesus, have pity on us.
Open our eyes and we will follow you.
We pray for those who are suffering
and those too weak to pray;
for all who are searching for life’s meaning
and those who find it hard to believe
they are loved and cherished by the living God.
We pray that we may not be blind,
or shut our eyes to the needs of our neighbours:
to loneliness an anxiety;
to illness and depression;
to bereavement and loss.

Son of David, Jesus, have pity on us.
Open our eyes and we will follow you.
We pray that we may not be blind,
or shut our eyes to visions of you;
to the majesty of your holiness;
to the glory of your salvation;
to the beauty of your love.
Silence

Son of David, Jesus, have pity on us.
Open our eyes and we will follow you.
And, as we approach All Saints’ Day:
We pray for those who have died in faith,
giving thanks for the shining love of the saints,
and asking that, with them,
e may come to share
in the endless joy of heaven.

Jesus Christ is the light of the world, a light which no darkness can quench.
We commend to your everlasting love those who have died, and light ac candle to symbolise the light of Christ which eternally shines and brings hope.

We remember ….
You turn our darkness into light; in your light shall we see light.
Merciful Father,
Accept these prayers for the sake of your Son, our Saviour Jesus Christ.
Amen
