INTERCESSIONS

17th November 2002

Let us pray for all people everywhere according to their needs.

O God, creator and preserver of all mankind, we pray for people of every race, and in every kind of need: make your ways known on earth, your saving power among nations.

We pray for people in conflict, in all walks of life and in all areas of the world. For those who feel undervalued, ignored, forgotten in their work or life.

We pray for those who do not have enough of life’s basic needs, food, clothing, shelter.

We pray for those who fear for their lives in whatever life they lead, for those who are persecuted for their faith; whatever that faith might be.

Lord in your mercy
Hear our prayer

We pray for our ministers Charlie, Joan, and Sam. We pray for your Church here in Bedford as well as throughout the world. We pray for the Church of England as it prepares for a new Archbishop.

Lord, you know there are divisions and conflict in all faiths, help those who are looking for a way forward. Guide and govern us by your Holy Spirit, that all who call themselves Christians may walk together in faith and unity, and bear witness by their love as they strive to reflect the perfect love of Christ. May we, as we live our lives, help those around us.

Lord in your mercy
Hear our prayer

We pray for all who suffer in mind or body and for those who care for them. We pray for the sick; for those who mourn; for those without faith, hope or love. We pray for those whose lives are consumed by hatred, and who cannot forgive. May they see your love, and use it as a guide in their lives, so that they come, in the end, into your all-encompassing, loving arms.

We pray for any known to us who are in special need of our prayers at this time, and remember Pat & Maurice M--. We remember others known to us now in a moment of silence ….

Lord in your mercy
Hear our prayer

Jesus Christ is the light of the world, a light which no darkness can quench. We remember before God those who have died and light a candle to symbolise the light of Christ, which eternally shines and brings hope. We remember Jan W--

Candle

You turn our darkness into light,
in your light shall we see light.

Merciful Father, accept these prayers for the sake of your Son, our Saviour, Jesus Christ, Amen
