INTERCESSIONS

15th September 2002

Let us pray for all people everywhere in all their differing needs.

O God, creator and preserver of all mankind, we pray for people of every race, and in every kind of need: make your ways known on earth, your saving power among nations.

As talk is of war, we pray for peace throughout the world, that all may live in unity and friendship in a life enriched by the celebration of diversity and variety.

We pray for a spirit of love, respect, and tolerance among people of different races and religions.

We pray for wisdom and understanding among the world's leaders and governments.

We pray that Christians everywhere may set an example of faith and unity, and bear witness by a love that is a reflection of the perfect love of Christ

Lord, in your mercy,
Hear our prayer

We pray for ourselves and our families, and especially for those taking the first steps into a new stage of their lives, whether school, college, university, gap year, job or career.

Lord, in your mercy,
Hear our prayer

We pray for all who suffer in mind or body and for those who care for them.

We pray for the sick; for those who mourn; for those without faith, hope or love.

We pray for any known to us who are in special need of our prayers at this time. We remember them now in a moment of silence ….

Lord, in your mercy,
Hear our prayer

Jesus Christ is the light of the world, a light which no darkness can quench. We remember before God those who have died and light a candle to symbolise the light of Christ, which eternally shines and brings hope. We remember ...

You turn our darkness into light,
in your light shall we see light.

Lord, in your mercy,
Hear our prayer

Merciful Father, accept these prayers for the sake of your Son, our Saviour, Jesus Christ. Amen

We will now say the Lord's Prayer together.

Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name,
Your kingdom come, your will be done, On earth as in heaven.
Give us today our daily bread.
Forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us.
Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
For the kingdom, the power and the glory are yours
Now and for ever.
Amen.
