INTERCESSIONS

30th June 2002

The Bidding for our prayers today is Lord Hear our prayer and the response is and let our cry come unto you

Let us pray.

Almighty God we come before you with thanksgiving for all your mercy and your grace, and for the beauty of the world around us. So much of our faith is in discovering through all our lives the wonder of your love and purpose for mankind, the richness and majesty of your creative and providing love, the way you have guided men through the centuries.

We pray for all who share in unfolding this picture to us, for our ministers and preachers who enlarge and enrich our understanding of you, and help us to respond to your love.

We pray for your blessing on the work of your church here at St Marks and Putnoe Heights and in every land and we ask that it may share to the full in the work of your son, revealing you to men and women and reconciling them to one another.

We pray for all who live and work in our communities here in Brickhill and Putnoe, we remember that all our lives depend upon the work of many minds and hands and we pray that we may live thankfully and in Unity with each other.

Lord hear our prayer - and let our cry come unto you

We bring to you Lord our stewardship of the worlds resources, all discussions and councils where far reaching decisions are made concerning government, conservation, international relationships and fighting diseases, and ask that your generous will prevail over human greed and prejudice.

We pray for peace in the world for countries where there is war, and for places where there is hatred between races and religions.

Lord God, all wise and merciful, hear us as we pray for all those who bear the responsibility of leadership amongst the nations of the world, give them wisdom to know and courage to do what is right and may they all come together to try to find the path of truth, freedom and peace which is your will.

Lord hear our prayer - and let our cry come unto you

Father we pray for ourselves. You know the needs of human life. We ask you to help us as we seek to live our lives according to your example.

Help us by your presence to overcome our hasty speech that hurts others, to be free from greed and selfishness, from pride and jealousy that spoil our life.

Help us to curb our temper, to be free from moodiness and wanting our own way. Let your presence help us to care about the feelings of others, to be gentle and ready to say we are sorry.

You know us Lord, bring the best out of us so that our lives may reflect your way for the world. You can heal all our ills and deliver us from every kind of trouble. Make us whole we pray, both in mind and spirit that we may be agents of your healing in the world.

Lord hear our prayer - and let our cry come unto you

O God of love whose compassion does not fail, we bring to you the sufferings of all humankind. The despair of the homeless, the sighing of prisoners especially of those held unjustly, the pains of the sick and injured, the helplessness of the aged and frail.

In your great mercy comfort and relieve them, Father, according to their various needs and may they know that you are with them.

We pray for those who have died and those who miss them, comfort and strengthen them in their sadness and let them know you are with them.

Jesus Christ is the Light of the World,
a light which no darkness can quench

We remember before God those who have died and light a candle to symbolise the light of Christ which eternally shines and brings hope. We remember today Alex  ...

You turn our darkness into light,
in your light shall we see light.

Lord hear our prayer - and let our cry come unto you

Comfort and heal all those who suffer in body, mind or spirit. Give them courage and hope in their troubles and bring them the joy of your salvation.

Merciful Father, accept these prayers for the sake of your Son, our Saviour Jesus Christ. Amen.

We will now sing together the Lords prayer

Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be your name,
Your kingdom come,
your will be done,
On earth as in heaven.
Give us today our daily bread.
Forgive us our sins
as we forgive those who sin against us.
Lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.
For the kingdom, the power and the glory are yours
Now and for ever.
Amen
