Intercessions

Dear Lord, we thank you for your example of humility shown to us in the life of Jesus. Give us strength always to follow in the way of self-sacrifice, thinking of others before ourselves, subduing our own interests in consideration of the needs of our brothers and sisters.

Lord Jesus, in your ministry you offered the words of life and yet many were slow to listen and quick to take offence. Enable us by your Spirit to be willing to hear and slow to speak. Give us humble hearts, prepared to allow space in our own minds for the opinions of others, and new and different ideas. May we allow you to mould and conform ourselves to you by removing obstacles to change and growth in our lives. Help us to realise that it is in listening to the first signals of your voice in one another that we are led into paths of truth and new directions of opportunity for growth.

We pray for J G, brought for baptism this morning, and we share with the family in thanking you for her life. We ask that you would bless her with health and peace, that she would know your joy in her life, and come to serve you all her days. Amen.
We pray this morning for M and A as they celebrate 40 years of marriage. We thank you, Lord, for their devotion to each other which has sustained them in their married life. We thank you also for their commitment to you, which sustains them in their shared Christian life and their valued contribution to your Church here at St Mark’s. Sustain them, we pray, for years to come in health and happiness.

We pray for anybody known to us who is troubled:
1. Those who are undergoing medical tests and consultations. Give to them a quiet trust and peace.
2. Give to those caring for others strength and the ability to cope with the strain of offering support.
3. Finally, we pray for health professionals, for carers in homes, nurses, doctors and social workers. May those who are in need be offered the best of attention, valued and cared for as your children.

Merciful Father,
Accept these prayers for the sake of your Son, our Saviour Jesus Christ. Amen

Gathering all our prayers into one, let us join together in faith as we sing the Lord’s Prayer together.

Our Father in heaven, hallowed be thy name,
your kingdom come, your will be done,
on earth as in heaven.
Give us today our daily bread.
Forgive us our sins
as we forgive those who sin against us.
Lead us not into temptation
but deliver us from evil.
For the kingdom, the power,
and the glory are yours
now and forever. Amen
